Tom's Balcony Talk

So, having an hour or so to kill this afternooon I flipped on my camera and started recording some babbling on my balcony. Somewhere around a minute into the video, I learned that I didn't have that much to say. Regardless, it is always nice to check in with you guys. So I have posted this little clip none the less. Thanks for popping by www.tomgreen.com Cheers.

First Lady Laura Bush's Seat

So as I mentioned a few days ago we kind of snuck into the Olympic opening ceremonies. We had front row seats. Amazing what a red NBC jacket will get you. I just told everybody who asked me, that I was Bob Costas.

The cool thing, was when we were cruising around before the stadium opened, we happened upon The First Lady's seat. So of course I got some video of it. I think it was her daughter who sat beside her. They were also seated with Tony Blairs wife, and right infront of Giorgio Armani. Kind of cool. I was mildly suprised to see that the seats were marked with stickers, with crudly drawn sharpie lettering. Didn't seem that Presidential. But I'm sure she didnt mind, she seems like a pretty easy going lady.

Anyhoooo. We also did witness her arriving in the parking lot, and I think I may have caught a quick glimpse of the back of her head as she walked up some stairs. Pretty cool huh?! Anyway, I got some of this on video. Press play.

Up At 8:00 - Sestriere Italy

I wish I didnt have the most sporadic sleep schedule of my life. This jet lag, is just lagging. I drove to Torino yeterday and had a great time on the show last night. Got to hang out with the boys from the US Olympic snowboard team again. Shaun, Danny, Mason you guys are awesome. That was fun hangin out. Hopefully we can go take some runs up in Mammoth sometime this year.

I think I may try to take a jog or something.

So today I am going to be running around with the US Olymic Bobsled team. Probably a different type than the snowboarders, but who is to say really. We are gonna be cruising around the Olympic village trying to get free stuff. Lots of free stuff at the Olympics, especially if you are a Bobsledder.

The trip is going great. Having a lot of fun doing these shoots and really getting to enjoy some downtime as well. I'm hoping things come together over the next few weeks with the website plans. I am hoping to launch some LIVE components in the next few months. Should make for an even more interactive and goofy environment around here.

Also getting geared up for heading back to Central America in March. Things are coming together down there with the House/Hip Hop recording studio/Jungle Santuary. Should be interesting. I think I will have to bring a video crew down there with me at some point to get some really ridiculous video for the website. As always, I like to keep you guys informed on my every move.

On that note. I think I am going back to bed now. I have a couple of hours before I have to run over to the Bobsledders, and I tend to operate better when I have more than 4 hours sleep under my belt. Cheers gang.

I Woke Up Again, At 2:30, Italy

Okay, so I am awake at 2:30. I went to bed real early, probably around ten. And I was having an awesome sleep. But then I just woke up. I have this trick I do, for any of you insomniacs out there. Never lay awake in bed. It allows your brain, and your body to get used to this position. Of being awake in a place where you are supposed to sleep. So, what you should do instead, whenever you cant sleep... Just get up until you feel tired.

The middle of the night is actually a great time to write on a Blog. There is nobody leaning over your shoulder in the hotel lobby, bugging you to get on the computer. I like that. It is a quiet time. I like the middle of the night. It is a peaceful time.

I am sitting here in the lobby of this fancy Italian hotel right now. And yes, it is quiet. There is a security guard snoozing in the chair behind me. The only sound is that of the air conditioner, whirring away in the darkness. I can occasionally hear the clicking away of somebody over at the front desk... but at the moment... Nothing else.

I am able to sleep in tommorow morning. I will be driving down to Torino tommorow, where I am going to be doing another LIVE hit for Jay tommorow night. Im looking forward to it, as I think I may be interviewing some snowboarders on The Tonight Show live. Should be fun.

Its nice being here at The Olympics. I shot a bit today where we walked around main street in Sestriere and spoke with people on the street. It was a cool street, and we ended up getting quite a bit of really funny footage in a pretty short amount of time. Sometimes you just get lucky.

I am trying to think of what else I can do before I get tired. I amy surf the net a bit. I have to find a car for Costa Rica, so I have been cruising around costa Rican auto deaerships looking for something cheap, that still wont get me stalled out in the jungle. I am going to fly back down there in March, and buy some crazy Toyota Jeep, and then go on an adventure. Setting up the new digs.

Buying a car in Central America seems like it might be a bit weird. Probably Im gonna get ripped off, I have a pretty good feeling about that. The good news, it looks like we may be shooting our pilot for HBO, so I will probably bring a camera crew with me and try to film the process. Might be kind of funny, to knowingly get ripped off on camera.

I also want to interview Fidel Castro, in Cuba. Anyone know how I can get ahold of the guy? He is a pretty media friendly guy for a communist dictator. After all, he let Jack Paar interview him in the sixties, and Barbara Walters later. I bet he would be open to an interview with Tomgreen.com, right? Whay not? Yeah I think I may start researching that until I fall asleep. If anybody knows anyone, who knows anyone, could you pop me a line here in the email section. I would love to get on the horn with Castros people and see if I can pop over there from Cosat Rica for a quick interview for the website. Might be kind of ridiculous.

Or maybe I should do what most other journalists do to make a name for themselves. Go goof around in a Hurricane like Anderson Cooper, or Dan Rather. You ever watch that? Every time there is a Hurricane, Anderson Cooper goes and plays in it for his camera. Its pretty interesting to watch. He is often smiling and laughing, playing with the Hurricane like it is some sort of ride at the park. Like a roller coaster. Meanwhile the roofs of countless peoples houses arte being lifted off, and all of their personal possesions destroyed. Yeah, I think Ill go the Castro route. Plus, I dont really wanna get beaned by a flying hubcap.

Okay, I have worn myself out. I am going to sleep now.

Goodnight Gang

Cool Review Of Inside And Outside The Box DVD - Buy One Here in The store Today!

Tom Green: Inside and Outside the Box

By Ashley Carter
January 18, 2006

Though Tom Green has long since ditched television for the creative freedom of the Internet, a proper collection of his pre-MTV series — The Tom Green Show — was long overdue. Spanning 26 episodes and two seasons, this is his original late night “variety” show that debuted on Canada’s Comedy Network in the late ’90s and, for good or ill, launched Green’s film and TV career in the States. This is before he had a sizable budget, before studio execs gave a shit what he was up to, before he developed any sense of restraint and, most importantly, before he became famous enough to be recognised by the streeters he made a career of harassing (leading to the show’s eventual downfall). The episodes range from annoying to hilarious to borderline psychotic with nothing in between. From eating a giant ball of human hair and Vaseline to putting the head of a dead bull in his sleeping parents’ bed (“a message from Don Corleone”), these three discs reveal Green as the originator of a genre of shock humour that has been endlessly imitated but never done quite as well. During one commentary track, Green even takes the opportunity to tip his hat to the Jackass crew for their shameless pilfering of some of his better gags. You can tell that some care went into the DVD set, with over an hour of extra footage, newly uncensored episodes and a strangely earnest videotaped message from Green to his fans following a commentary. While there’s only so much Tom Green you can handle in a single sitting, all 600(!) minutes of this release hold up surprisingly well. The only time the series shows its age is during the useless musical portion at the end of the earlier episodes. With musical guests like Salmonblaster, the Bloody Chicklets, Starling, etc., if ever you’re searching for a mid- to late ’90s CanRock time capsule, this would be it. (VSC)

Just Checking In From The Olympics

Hey there gang! So things are going awesome over here at the Olympics. We shot some fun stuff today with some Japanese people, and a scottish bagpiper, and a woman who was doing the robot. Good times. I am going to go charge up my camera in a bit and upload some cool video from when we snuck into the opening ceremonies the other night. It was pretty cool. We got right down onto the field level and shot some cool stuff.

Before the games opened I was able to cruise around the Olympic stadium a little bit. The security seemed pretty lax, if you really want to know the truth. At one point I walked right up to the seat that First Lady Mrs. Bush would be sitting in only a few minutes later. I got some video of the place holder, a simple sticker with her name crudely written on it with a sharpie. Kind of strange.

A few minutes later we were outside the stadium when she rolled up with the secret service, and I got some real bouncy video of the back of her head as she walked into the stadium. Pretty cool. I will post some of that later as well. Man, she did roll with some security though. When she and her entourage arrived, they had several secret service trucks, an a helicopter that was buzzing overhead. The helicopter actually kept flying around overhead throughout the opening ceremonies actually. It was kind of annoying, chopping away through most of the musical numbers.

Being in the opening ceremonies was awesome though, I really cant say it effectively enough. Being there, and seeing all of these athletes from different parts of the world entering the stadium, well, it made you think about the state of the world. It made you wonder, why the politians of the world, throughout history, just cant seem to get it together. The people in the stadium certainly seemed happy to celebrate together, and everyone cheered for all of the teams, from all of the countries as they entered the arena. And everybody danced and celebrated together to the same music as fireworks blew off all around. And it was a beautiful night.

But, at the same time, I am sitting here right now in the hotel lobby. There is a French guy behind me who just tapped me on the shoulder, he wants to use the computer. There is only one in the lobby, and I like using it because it has a real nice fast connection. I guess he doesnt understand the idea of waiting your turn. See, I waited my turn to get on the computer. But he doesnt understand that. He is actually starting to get really angry right now, even though I have only been using the computer for like ten minutes. I guess if I dont get off soon, he may come over here and smack me in the eye. Completely contrary to the Olympic spirit that I was just describing at the Opening ceremonies the other night. Oh well, thats human nature I guess. We like to fight with one another.

As you drive from Torino, through the Alps to Sestriere, you can see the old forts from World Wars past up in the mountain tops. They were put there to protect against the French, who invaded italy several times throughout history. In fact the italian city of Sestriere, where I am right now, is a French name. For this very reason.

Man this guy behind me is really starting to stew. Thing is, he was so damned rude to me th way he tapped me on the shoulder and talked down to me, that I think I am going to keep typing. Just to piss him off even more. See, I guess this is how wars start folks... Not from hogging up the internet access, but from people, being impatient, and just not getting along.

It really is too bad that we cant all come together around the world, the way we did at the Olympic Ceremonies theother night. I actually knd of like French people for a minute the other night. But now, here I am, typing away. And this French guy is literally hovering over my shoulder, glaring at me, in a threatening way. And it reminds me, that because we humans are all so nuts, that the idea of Peace, may be just a fleeing dream. At least we have the Olympics.

So, in the spirit of the Olympic games. I am going to get off the computer now. This guy just came up and yelled at me. I believe the quote, in broken french, was "what are you writing the damned bible!" So, I will go now. Check in later for that video. Thanks gang!

I Am Now In Torino for Opening Ceremonies

Yesterday I drove down to Torino Italy, and last night we had some fun. I got to hang out and shoot a bit with five time Olympic medalist Alberto Tomba. It was fun, what a great guy. He dressed me up as an Italian, and then we went and got food, and hit a disco. This guy is a rock star over here in Europe. He's bigger than Michael Jordan or Elvis over here. It was cool.

Today I have a few hours off in the morning. I may walk around the neighborhood here and get a bit of video. Then, this afternoon I am off to the broadcast area, where tonight I will be on some sort of Live feed from the opening ceremonies. Should be rad. Make sure you guys tune in tonight, should be interesting.

Anyway gang. I am going to get some breakfast, and take a shower. I think I may do both at the same time. Just because it would be strange, plus I like my eggs runny. Huh?

I'll check back in a bit. Cheers Gang.

Horrible Jet Lag + Possible Insanity = European Toilet Video

Man, so just to let you guys know about something else going on in my life... Worst jet lag ever. After flying over here to Italy, I have consistently been waking up in the middle of the night and staring at the wall. Instead of sitting there in the dark, and not sleeping for the third night in a row, well... I decided to use my night time insomnia for something productive. An expose on the wonderful world of Italian hotel bathrooms. In the form of this fine video. Enjoy. I'm going back to bed now. Ciao.

Hangin with the USA Olympic Snowboard Team

I got to hang out with the USA snowboard team today. Here is a clip of the ladies. Gretchen Bleiler, Kelly Clark, Elena Hight, and Hannah Teter all goofed around with us for a bit. They were awesome. We got to hang out at the bottom of the halfpipe and watch them practice. I also got to have a chat with Shawn White, and Danny Kass. Danny let me strap on his board for a second and then he and Mason Aguirre snuck me onto the halfpipe. I hope I didn't ruin it. The cool thing is I was riding the board that Danny will be shredding in the games. Kinda cool. Does it sound cool when I say shredding? I don't know really. it's an old skate term. Not sure if it applies to snow. Probably does. Regardless, I was stoked. I was, really stoked. Anyway, the gang was all awesome. It is going to be fun watching them all compete after having gotten to meet them all. Check out the bits this week and next on The Tonight Show. Awesome.

Sestriere Italy - Olympic Fever

So the name of the town we are in is Sestriere. It is up in the northern part of Italy, in the Alps. Close to the French border. The place seems pretty awesome, but I havent really had a chance to check it all out yet. Think Aspen, but with more of a European flair.

Last night we went out to a local pub and had a few drinks. I'm here with the same group of guys that produce all the bits I have done for the Tonight Show, so its fun. There are plenty of jokes to go around.

Its nice to be in Europe. I dont get over to Europe that much. It was fun driving through the Italian countryside. If I were to describe it to you, I would have to say it feels kind of like Syracuse. Or perhaps a bit more like the outskirts of Albany.

The trees are the same. The highways are basically the same, except for the roundabouts. The cars are smaller. People all speak Italian. But other than that, its pretty well the same as any other place. Just with more Italian people.

Had a pretty good meal last night. The Italian food is of course a big part of the culture. It is delicious. Kind of like The Olive Garden, without the delicious free garlic bread... I think that is a joke. I'm not really sure if that is a joke. See, I love The Olive Garden... Hmmm.

So, I am about to go meet the guys for lunch. Then we are going to go over the the atheletes village and Ill be interviewing some of the atheletes. Should be pretty ripe for comedy. Lots of language barriers. That is usually pretty fun for messing with folks. We will see.

This morning I got a big bag of swag. Free stuff is always okay, but this free stuff is really cool. They gave me all of these Olympic Jackets, boots, pants, and clothing, all with Torino 2006 NBC written on them. As I said in my last post, it really does make one feel like a professional broadcaster... But of course, we all know that in my case, nothing could be further from the truth.

Anyway gang, I am excited to be over here doing this. I hope you are all able to watch when we go on air starting on Friday the tenth. I think I will be on then, but I will keep you posted. Until then... CIAO!

From Italy

Hello Gang! I am now in Italy at the Olympics!

Hello everybody around the world. In my attempt to never be in one place for more than two or three days, I am gone again. I had a nice visit with the family, the dogs seemed happy, and then sad to see me go. But, we have work to do over here.

I haven't really slept in the past 24 hours. I just got to italy, and have spent the last two or three hours getting accredited with security passes, and these dope NBC OLYMPICS Jackets. As I will be a correspondent throughout the games, you will be able to see me on Jay Leno every night, starting around Friday the tenth, next week. This is gonna be awesome.

So start telling your friends in the gang to tune in. It is going to be nice to be on TV again every night for a few weeks. There certainly will be plenty of opportunity for jokes over here at the Olympics.

Tommorrow I will be going over to the Athletes village to interview many of the athletes. The atmosphere is electric over here. Especially with the cool jackets. It seems that cool matching jackets always turn an event up a notch.

So anyway gang. It is nice to be over here working for NBC. And an awesome experience it will be, doing goofy comedy for a few weeks with The Tonight Show crew. We always have a lot of fun.

I will of course be checking in here everyday to let you know how things are going. And of course, I will upload some pics and video as soon as I find a good place to do it here at the hotel. You gotta see this awesome jacket. Really makes me feel really really professional. Almost like a real TV news reporter or something!!! Hopefully with all of these security passes we should be able to get some pretty funny stuff for the show. Make sure you guys all tune in! It's gonna be fun.

Later

TomGreen.Com Is Getting Bigger, Fatter, Stronger, Faster. - Coming Very Soon

So th big changes I have aluded too on the site are going to be coming. It is going to be cool. And I am very excited about it. Without giving exactly all of the details away, I can say that we will be moving in an exciting way, in a very few short amount of time. Testerday, i had some ver exciting meetings regarding the future of the site. Prepare For Impact.

Let me tell you guys roughly what is going on. We will be getting some new technology around here. It is going to give you access to faster video. We are going to be furiously building a few more fun sections. And it is going to be all very new stuff. Some ideas that you haven't seen on the internet before.

We are in the process of partnering with a few big players in the world, who are going to help make this all happen. We are going to have some new technology involved. There is going to be a regular "Live" component on the site that you, and I, together will all be able to participate in. Without giving to much detail, (Beacause I don't want to blow the suprise) it is going to be very very fun for all of us around here.

I'm off tommorow to Italy. I leave at about five in the morning. I will be going over there to work with The Tonight Show gang, producing some funny video clips from the Olympics. And in the month of February, you will get to see me quite a bit on The Tonight SHow. Reporing from the scene. I look forward to this, and it is going to be fun.

But while I am over there some serious changes are going to be getting built on the website here. Some new technology, and some new people are going to begin working on the site. And things are going to start a changing around here. In a big way.

Stay tuned for an official announcement coming over the next few weeks as to what this is all about. But I wanted to give you guys a personal, an initial heads up. We are going to break some ground together here this folks. And we are going to do some things on this website together, that frankly, have never been done before. Some new ideas, that haven't been tryed on the internet, or on television.

Don't worry, all of your favorite stuff on the site will be staying the same. We aren't changing any of our existing ideas around here. The good news, there is no need too. But we will be adding new sections to the site, and they will have a completely different and faster technology applied to them. And this is going to allow us to strech our creative wings around here together. And we are going to be able to do some really cool shit.

I can't wait to tell you more about it in a few weeks. Stay tuned gang. And tell all of your friends to pop by. This is going to be fun.
