Lewis County Courthouse To Get $10M Makeover

After months of debate, Lewis County lawmakers approved a $10 million makeover for the county courthouse.
The project will renovate the existing building and add another courthouse in the back.
The work is necessary to meet requirements handed down by New York state.
Also during Monday night's special meeting, lawmakers agreed to hire three people to create a code enforcement department.

At the moment, the county contracts with a private company to provide code enforcement services.
The new positions go into effect January 1, 2006.
